E-mobility offensive in Austria: subsidies for private and company charging stations

Time of publication: 2021-02-12

As part of the large-scale e-mobility promotion in Austria, also called "e-mobility offensive", charging stations for homes and businesses are promoted. Our wallboxes Power Dot Eco and Power Dot Pro are fully eligible and a purchase of these can be subsidized with up to 1.800€.

What is the e-mobility promotion?
To combat the high CO2 emissions in traffic and transportation, the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) is initiating a promotion for electric mobility in 2019.

Implemented together with automobile importers, two-wheeler importers and sports retailers, the increased subsidy in the summer of 2020 has ensured a boom in electric cars in Austria. To continue this successful model, a total of 46 million euros will be available in 2021 to promote e-mobility.

How are home charging stations promoted by the Austrian "E-mobility for Private" funding campaign?

Private charging stations for home are subsidized by the Austrian funding action with a grant. The subsidy for home charging stations can be applied for e.g. in a joint application with an e-vehicle purchase. Since January 1, 2021, however, it can also be applied for as a pure subsidy for charging stations and is thus independent of the purchase of an e-vehicle.

The amount of the subsidy differs as follows:

- 600€ per wallbox in a one- or two-family house.
- 900€ per intelligent OCPP-capable charging station, if it is installed as a single system in a multi-apartment building
- 1,800€ per smart OCPP-enabled charging station if installed in a multi-apartment building as part of a shared facility.

According to BMK, such a community system exists when several communication-capable charging stations are connected to form a network, which can be expanded. A significant advantage of this is the possibility to control the charging processes and thus avoid peak loads.

As an intelligent home charging station, our Power Dot Pro wallbox is ideally suited for all three levels of the "E-mobility for private individuals" funding campaign, and the grant can therefore be applied for at umweltfoerderung.at upon purchase.

How are charging stations for businesses, local authorities and associations
subsidized by the Austrian funding program "Electric Passenger Cars for Businesses"?
The amount of funding differs as follows:
Company charging infrastructure without public access

- 900€ per AC charging point with ≤ 22 kW (intelligent and OCPP-capable).
- 4,000€ per DC fast charging point with < 50 kW
- 10,000€ per DC fast charging point with ≥ 50 kW but less than 100 kW
- 20,000€ per DC fast charging point with ≥ 100 kW.

Pre-condition: the operational charging infrastructure is eligible regardless of vehicle purchase, but must be installed by a licensed electrical contractor and registered with the grid operator for ≥ 3.6 kVA. Furthermore, the charging infrastructure must be able to communicate and be integrated into a load management system.

Entratek charging stations meet these criteria and are therefore eligible for subsidies.

Ideally suited for the AC area is our home charging station Wallbox Power Dot Pro, as it fulfills all conditions of the subsidy for charging stations and has many other outstanding features.
Our Power Bay and Power Eagle fast charging stations are suitable for the DC range. Thanks to OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) all Entratek charging stations can be connected to any backend.
